Resilience Integration and Sustainable Empowerment (RISE) participated in the Joint Assessment on the Impact of Somali Shilling Rejection and Market Disruptions in Banaadir Region, conducted from 27 to 29 July 2026 under the coordination of the Food Security Cluster Somalia.

The assessment brought together humanitarian partners to examine how the rejection of the Somali Shilling and the resulting market disruptions have affected household food security, livelihoods, market functionality, and access to essential commodities across Banaadir Region.

Prior to the field exercise, RISE participated in an online orientation and data collection training organized by the Food Security Cluster. The training equipped assessment teams and enumerators with a shared understanding of the assessment objectives, methodology, sampling approach, data collection tools, and field procedures, ensuring the quality and consistency of data gathered during the exercise.

Throughout the three-day assessment, RISE worked alongside other humanitarian partners to collect reliable field data that will contribute to evidence-based analysis and inform coordinated humanitarian responses. The findings are expected to support stakeholders in identifying the most pressing needs of affected communities and strengthening interventions that improve food security and market resilience.
