Resilience Integration and Sustainable Empowerment (RISE) was honored to attend a critical panel discussion organized by Somali Peace Line (SPL), addressing the rising concern of drug misuse among school students in Somalia. The event brought together representatives from civil society, education, and health sectors to explore the growing risks associated with smokeless tobacco and injection drugs.
The session provided an important platform to assess how substance misuse impacts students’ academic performance, mental health, and social behavior. Key panel discussions focused on developing collaborative, community-driven strategies to reduce vulnerability and promote safe learning environments.
RISE contributed by highlighting the importance of early intervention, school-based awareness campaigns, and stronger coordination between local organizations, schools, and families. We reaffirmed our commitment to advocating for youth protection and preventive education.
RISE remains dedicated to working alongside partners to create healthier, drug-free environments where every child can thrive.
